Bayern Munich have reached a deadlock in their negotiations with Juventus over the permanent transfer of Danilo.
Julian Nagelsmann is gearing up for his debut season with Bayern Munich as the first team manager. The former RB Leipzig coach replaced Hansi Flick who decided to part ways by mutual consent at the end of last season and has now been appointed as the German national team manager.
The pressure is now on Nagelsmann to deliver next season after he showed great promise during his time at Leipzig and Hoffenheim. The 34-year-old is keen on upgrading his defence and has identified a signing to improve the right-back position.
The German manager is not too impressed by Benjamin Pavard due to his lack of defensive prowess and is on the lookout for a more stable, experienced and reliable option. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Julian Nagelsmann has shortlisted Juventus‘ Danilo as the ideal signing.
The Brazilian international was signed by the Bianconeri in the summer of 2019 from Manchester City in a swap deal for Joao Cancelo. During his two-year stay in Turin, Danilo has grown into a popular figure at the club and played a key role last season under Andrea Pirlo who had to use him as an emergency makeshift centre-back and left-back too.
The 30-year-old’s versatility of being able to play as a centre-back and as a right-back has impressed Nagelsmann who wants him on board at Allianz Arena next season. However, Massimiliano Allegri has no plans on parting ways with the former Real Madrid player and neither does Juventus want to sell him.
In the case of a potential sale, Juve have set a price tag of 30 million euros that does not work with Bayern Munich’s budget. Apart from the transfer fee, Bayern cannot afford to meet Danilo’s wage demands as he currently earns 4.5 million euros a season in Italy and will certainly not accept a pay-cut to sanction a transfer.
In such circumstances, the Bavarian giants will have to look at other options in the market. They had shown interest in Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, however, the American international has snubbed a move and has pledged allegiance to the Catalans. Who should Bayern Munich consider signing instead?
