Barcelona are set to make their final attempt to resign Neymar Jr from Paris Saint-Germain in the next summer transfer market
Since Neymar Jr left Barcelona in the summer of 2017 for Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record transfer fee. The Catalans have struggled since then and have failed to even replace him. The 28-year-old Brazilian made a move to Paris to seek a new challenge and to win the UEFA Champions League as well. The former Santos winger came close to achieving his dream last season, however, a poor display in the final of the Champions League saw his dreams come crashing down.
Neither Neymar nor Barcelona have achieved their targets since both parties went their separate ways in 2017. Barca was confident in replacing the winger and believed that they could win the UCL without his contribution, meanwhile, Neymar believed that he could reach Europe’s summit without the support he received from Lionel Messi. However, neither of the two have met their expectations.
It has been quite evident that the last two years, Neymar was eager to return to the Camp Nou. In the summer of 2019, the Catalans tried every trick in the book to land their former winger, however, PSG was adamant about keeping their marque signing.
However, reports now claim that Barca will make their final attempt to sign the 28-year-old winger next summer. The Brazilian is on a contract until 2022. If Neymar wants to leave next season, then there is little to nothing that French champions could do rather than selling him for a decent fee.
If the Brazilian winger does sign for Barca next season, the only issue is what happens to Ansu Fati?. The 17-year-old left-winger has shown tremendous potential last season and has already kick-started this year’s campaign with a brace in the opening game of the Spanish league.
Ansu Fati is a phenomenal talent that the Catalans have in their hands, however, would it be worth it to sign a 29-year-old left-winger next summer who is injury prone as well?.
