Barcelona superstar continues to struggle with confidence as Paris-Sait Germain looms over with a possible transfer to the French capital
For the past few seasons, Barcelona has been facing problems upfront. With Lionel Messi doing all the heavy lifting and Luis Suarez making his presence known from time to time. The Uruguayan dipped in and out of form as most of the attacking abilities deteriorated due to age. The club, consequently, was in the market for a replacement for the ex-Liverpool star. The primary target for the club was Lautraro Martinez, but due to complications, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann was signed.
Since then, the Frenchman is yet to impress and has not shown the same form as was seen with the France national team and at Atletico Madrid. And now, with the oncoming of Ronald Koeman as the new manager and the dismissal of Luis Suarez, the pressure to perform on the 29-year-old is more than ever, and he is visibly struggling to meet up to those demands placed on his shoulders recently.
Griezmann has still not properly adapted to the team’s playstyle and hasn’t built up the chemistry with his teammates, especially with captain Lionel Messi. The Argentine seldom passes to the World Cup winner during games and it is clear that the two are yet to share a good relationship on and off the field. The former Atletico player is also unhappy with the coach’s impatience with him as he continues to berate him in post-match interviews, as seen in the 1-1 draw against Sevilla in La Liga.
As a result ‘Le petit prince’ is looking for a possible move away from the La Liga giants. According to reports, Ligue 1 side Paris-Saint Germain has shown interest in acquiring the services of the former Real Sociedad forward. With Real Madrid determined to buy PSG’s star forward Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Greizmann would serve as a perfect replacement for the 21-year old. The Parisiens have been interested in the Barca star for quite some while, and due to the current situations, a move to the Parc des princes looks more likely than ever.
