Barcelona looking to secure Neymar by offering two of their superstars to Paris Saint-Germain.
With Messi’s exit edging closer than Barcelona would like after Xavi signed a contract extension with his current team Al-Sadd, they’re trying everything they possibly can to make Messi stay beyond 2021.
One such ploy seems to be bringing back Neymar and the golden trio of MSN. While PSG has
adamantly refused to consider selling their star player who has been in phenomenal shape this season, Barcelona isn’t ready to give up just yet, increasing their offerings.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Neymar this season has been very apparent and anticipated by all fans, especially with the Brazilian star expressing his wish to reunite with the maestro, Messi. Hindering this reunion is the contract Neymar signed with PSG in 2017 which is set to expire in 2022. The only possibility the player has of leaving is if he invokes Article 17 of FIFA’s transfer regulations to secure his move.
With Xavi’s return now impossible until next season, the Board has to up the ante to ensure Messi remains even after his contract expires in 2021. The talented forward has been very angry at the management and their dealings both on and off-field, and has expressed his dissatisfaction at the lack of quality in the dressing room.
While PSG have been consistently standing in the way of the player’s desires, Barca have been just as consistent with their chase, and more so now, if they desire to keep Messi in the Blaugrana colors past 2021. To sweeten the deal for PSG, Barca are now set to offer Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele to the Ligue 1 side.
After signing Griezmann for a record of 120 million euros, the Catalan club clearly expected more from the Frenchman. His brilliance has only come in glimpses ever since his arrival last summer. Although we saw a brilliant performance from him in the recent clash against Villareal, with an outstanding goal, the lack of consistency from the player isn’t very pleasing. His fellow countryman has his own problems and setbacks at Camp Nou, with multiple injuries haunting that have left much to be desired from his performances.
With Griezmann valued at 96 million euros and Dembele at 56 million euros, it brings the total to roughly 150 million euros which is still 10 million short of the estimated value that Barca would have to pay if the player does use FIFA’s Article 17. If the French side does agree to sign the two Frenchmen, Neymar’s return could be what the club needs to convince Messi to remain at Camp Nou.
