Barcelona plot the ideal strategy to sign a promising full-back.
Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has plotted an impressive strategy to secure a promising talent from Ajax to solve the club’s full-back issues.
It is a well-known fact that the Catalan side are heavily invested in securing a new right-back for next season with the current first choice, Nelson Semedo, preparing for an exit.
While many proven talents, such as Manchester City‘s Joao Cancelo and Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, have been linked with a move to Camp Nou this summer, it is a 19-year-old superstar that has caught the attention of the Blaugrana board.
Recently, Pep Guardiola‘s City have received a blessing by getting their previously held two-season ban from the Champions League lifted by the TAS. This has prompted a massive restructuring plan to ensure the Premier League side have a great performance in both the League and the European glory for next season.
Pep has shortlisted multiple players to strengthen the many weakness of the current squad with one such role being their right-back. For that reason, the early talks with Barcelona regarding the signing of Semedo have reached their advanced stages with 40 million euro being quoted as the likely transfer fee.
Barcelona are now hoping to finalize this deal as they have their own intentions for the full-back problem at Camp Nou with Ajax’s young superstar, Sergino Dest, being named as the perfect solution.
The American international has impressed the La Liga giants with his pace and defensive capabilities while also having the awareness and skills to contribute offensively. He has the ability to play on both feet making him the perfect man for the job as Barca are also looking to have a player who could replace Jordi Alba when needed.
The Spanish side are not the only one interested in the Ajax no. 28, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, all being interested in acquiring the talented defender.
What is even more attractive about Dest is his price tag with many presuming that the fee will not exceed a bargained price of 30 million euros. Bartomeu will surely hope to secure the youngster as he is the perfect solution for many of the club’s problems but the president wants to witness how Quique Setien’s squad performs in the rest of the League fixtures and the Champions League to finalize his transfer plans.
