Barcelona are ready to listen to Manchester United’s offer for their struggling superstar.

Barcelona were financially struggling even before the lockdown and with the outbreak of ongoing coronavirus pandemic, things have only gotten worse. The club’s board have made many negative decisions over the years that have led them to a point where they are in need of selling youngsters like Arthur Melo for aging footballers like Miralem Pjanic, just for the sake of balancing their books.

One of the main factors which led to this crisis is the many failed transfers done by the current board. Since Neymar’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain, Barca have signed many players like Philippe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele, in order to replace the Brazilian superstar.

While Coutinho failed to impress at the Nou Camp, Dembele’s reoccurring injury has haunted him through his Barca spell. Meanwhile, Griezmann is yet to find his footing since his departure from Atletico Madrid with the French international struggling to have any impact in most of the matches he plays.

The club’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has just one year remaining in his tenure but is adamant about securing more talents to improve the squad for the next season. The club’s financial situation, however, does not permit any massive signings unless they manage to make profitable sales in this transfer window.

Barca have to be careful, however, as they should not make any bad transfer decisions like they have already made with Arthur. But unfortunately for the fans, that’s exactly what the club are planning.

Manchester United have reportedly prepared a whopping 70 million euro bid for Barca’s struggling winger, Ousmane Dembele. After failing to secure Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, the Premier League giants believe Dembele is the next best footballer.

The Barca hierarchy were keen on keeping the French international as, despite his injuries he is capable of becoming a great asset in the future as at 23 years of age, he has plenty of time to develop. But their financial crisis is said to make them re-evaluate his availability as the 70 million could be used to potentially bring back Neymar Jr. or even fund other massive transfer targets that the club have lined-up to strengthen the squad.

It remains to be seen whether the board will approve the sale or ask a bigger fee considering they did spend a lot more on the former Dortmund winger.
