Barcelona star reveals his preparation for his departure this summer.

Barcelona midfielder has made Lionel Messi aware of his departure with multiple clubs interested in acquiring his services this summer.

The midfielder was among the many inconsistent players this season, who also suffered from many continuity problems. Lionel Messi would have definitely anticipated his departure this season as Ivan Rakitic probably played his last match with a Blaugrana shirt against Osasuna. Due to his suspension, he couldn’t play in the clash against Alaves, but that was a befitting goodbye for the talented midfielder’s 6 years at Camp Nou.

Owing to the fact that he has first-handed experienced the worsening situation at Barca, he would obviously like to make an exit before his contract expires in 2021. Additionally, the club is looking at a massive restructuring program and aren’t initiating a contract renewal talks.

The 33-year-old has started looking for alternative club options before being released and has the support of the board, as they would get the much-needed income from his sale. He would definitely be interested in offers that allowed him to keep staying in Spain and the La Liga side preferably. However, he has expressed his desire to perhaps join the American side, MLS, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

Barcelona will surely look at all viable options and look to sell him before the next course, at his current valuation of roughly 20 million euros. In the meantime, they aren’t too worried about getting a replacement, with multiple names already available like Frenkie de Jong, Carles Alena, Arturo Vidal, Sergio Busquets, and Sergi Roberto. With the recent incorporation of Riqui Puig in the first team, and the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Juventus, the management isn’t too concerned about losing an aging midfielder.

It remains to be seen where Rakitic goes off to, with many options available to him to continue his career in European Football.
