Barcelona looks to include a surprising star for the tough clash against Bayern Munich.

Barcelona coach Quique Setien is known to make surprising squad additions for important matches. The clash against Napoli saw a revived Barcelona with a dominating 3-1 win and explosive performance majorly credited to club captain Lionel Messi. With the positive performance the Spaniard gets to keep his job a little while longer, however, he still has a lot to prove to the Board in what will surely be a difficult game against Bayern Munich.

While the Catalans have been haunted by inconsistent performances, the reason behind the lackluster performances could be their mindset where they rely entirely too much on Leo and lose confidence with just one setback during the game.

With a tough game against Bayern who have a string of undefeated matches and phenomenal performance this season, Barca must truly bring their A-game to have any chance at conquest. For this reason, Lionel has made a somewhat surprising request to change the starting 11.

While it’s known that the German giants will be playing Alvaro Odriozola who could be considered as a weakness for Bayern, Lionel wants pace and energy to break through the weak link and cause damage. Hence, he has requested young Ansu Fati be a part of the starting 11, invariably causing Griezmann to be the one on the bench.

While this may be surprising to rely on a 17-year-old for a game-changing match, the logic behind it is solid. The young La Masia graduate has found himself in the first team on multiple occasions and has never failed to impress. Arguably, his inexperience could be daunting but according to the Argentinian, his immense skill and speed outweigh his inexperience.

Messi wants a chance at Champions League glory and is looking for no mistakes during this match and with Griezmann’s average performance against Napoli, asking for Fati seems like a fair request.
