Barcelona have found the perfect replacement for departed Ivan Rakitic in Inter Milan.
Barcelona are currently undergoing a major change with multiple veterans leaving the club. Lionel Messi saga continues with the Argentine international desiring an exit while his best friend Luis Suarez has been nearing his own departure.
Meanwhile, Croatian midfielder, Ivan Rakitic has finalized a move back to his former club, Sevilla. While his departure was imminent, other midfielders like Arturo Vidal have also been linked with an exit. Despite getting Miralem Pjanic as part of the strange deal made for Arthur Melo’s departure to Juventus, the Catalan giants are hoping to secure another midfielder this transfer window.
Ajax’s Donny Van de Beek was previously linked with a move but Manchester United have already secured the Dutchman. Barca boss, Ronald Koeman, has moved his focus to Liverpool’s Dutch midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum.
Wijnaldum, however, may not be joining any time soon and could potentially have to wait until his current contract expires in order to secure a move to the Nou Camp. The Spanish side are now looking to Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan for solutions.
Reports claim that the Italian boss is looking to raise some funds to greenlight a rebuild after failing to secure the Europa League against Spain’s Sevilla. But due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Italian side must sell potentially key players to replace them with better-fitting footballers.
Christian Eriksen has been named one such player that Conte is looking to offload despite the player joining the Nerazzurri only 6 months ago. Conte has shown interest in Barca’s unwanted midfielder, Vidal, but the price tag placed on the Chilean has made it difficult for both sides to reach an agreement.
Reports suggest that the two giants are looking for a player exchange with Eriksen moving to Barca, adding another aging footballer to the squad. Blaugrana president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has been criticized heavily for his transfers resulting in an aging squad and with Eriksen’s transfer, it will only make matters worse.
