Real Madrid have carried out a tactical masterclass off the pitch
Alaves dropped points against Real Madrid at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano stadium which was a crucial fixture which has now made the Los Blancos the favourites to win the league as they require just five points out the remaining three games to win their 34th La Liga title.
The 2018-19 season was horrendous and was a season that every Madrid fan around the world would want to forget soon enough. Julen Lopetegui‘s stint was successful during the first few initial games, however, the former Spanish national team manager went on to lose control of the dressing room and several poor performances by the squad led to the manager’s dismissal. Santiago Solari gave his best at turning things around after Lopetegui’s departure, however, the former Real Madrid manager also fell short.
With Zinedine Zidane taking over, Real Madrid this season seems brighter than ever when compared to the 2018/19 season. Despite signing Luka Jovic, Eden Hazard, and Ferland Mendy, Zinedine Zidane has basically worked with the same players from last season as Jovic and Hazard have barely made an impact.
However, Real Madrid’s recent success can be credited with Florentino Perez and the changes he has made. The Los Blancos have always been known as the team to spend huge in the summer and generally on players who have just entered their prime and have a few years of elite football left in them.
Florentino Perez has changed the philosophy over the recent years and has lately focused on signing young talents to build a squad for the future. The Los Blancos currently boasts one of the best squads for the future including the likes of Mendy, Takefusa Kubo, Rodrygo, Asensio, Martin Odegaard, Vinicius Junior, Luka Jovic and so on without even breaking the bank.
The Los Blancos have been intelligent and decisive when selling their superstars as well. Alvaro Morata was sold to Chelsea in the summer of 2017 for 75 million euros and the former Chelsea striker has never found his form since then. Angel Di Maria was sold in the summer for 60 million pounds and the Argentine forward was a massive flop in the Premier League which led to Manchester United selling the player for a loss of 22 million pounds.
The report from Diaro GOL claims that Real Madrid is close to generating one million euros just from player sales and the Los Blancos plan on raising 200 million euros this summer. James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Mariano, and Dani Ceballos are the likely candidates that Madrid will sell this summer to generate a whopping amount of 200 million euros.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has completely lost its structure. The Catalan side was recognized for using their homegrown talents in their senior squads such as Puyol, Lionel Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta. However, in recent years the Catalan club has focused on making big money signings such as Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Ousmane Dembele, and Philippe Coutinho while completely ignoring their talented youth academy graduates such as Marc Cucurella.
Adapting with time and bringing about major changes is the main reason why Real Madrid are successful today and will be successful in the future.
