Barcelona have dug their own grave after their recent lawsuit against Neymar
The situation at Barcelona has gone from bad to worse after losing out the possibility of signing Neymar due to a lawsuit and dropping points against Sevilla that has seen Real Madrid go on top of the table as leaders and the favourites to win the La Liga Santander for the 34th time.
The Blaugrana’s had sued their former Brazilian forward after a breach in his contract before he signed for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017. In 2016, Neymar had signed a contract renewal with his former club that included a signing bonus worth 64 million euros, however, the talismanic winger received only 22.5 million euros from the 64 million euros that were agreed to.
Barca had decided to pay the remaining figure to their player by July 2017, however, the club decided not to go ahead with the payment since rumours stated that Neymar was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisian based team went ahead and paid the 222 million euros release clause to sign the winger from the Camp Nou and Barca decided not to pay the remaining figure since Neymar was no longer a representative of the Spanish club.
The Parisian winger then sued his former club for not paying him the remaining 43 million euros, however, the court of Spain rejected Neymar’s plea and in return charged the Brazilian winger to pay Barcelona a figure around 6.7 million euros for a breach in his contract.
The lawsuit between Neymar and Barcelona has increased the bad blood between both the parties and reports from Spain state that the talismanic winger has opted to sign for either Inter Milan or Juventus who have shown serious interest.
The San Siro team plan to sign the PSG man this summer or next season if and when Lautaro Martinez leaves the club for 111 million euros. Former Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, is working on a grand revolution at Inter Milan to bring the club back to where it belongs as one of Europe’s best football clubs.
Juventus being linked with Neymar does not make much sense since the Bianconeri lacks the funds to sign a player of the Brazilian’ stature. The only possible way that Juve could possibly sign the wanted winger would be offering either Paulo Dybala or Douglas Costa in exchange.
What do you make of the current situation between Barcelona and their former player? Who else should the Catalans focus on signing now since the Brazilian winger is now out of their agenda.
