Barcelona have reached a personal agreement with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Lautaro Martinez but his signing will largely depend on the exit of another superstar. ESPN reports that the Catalan side could potentially sign their biggest target for the summer despite his release clause that expired a couple of days back.

Originally Barca had the opportunity to sign the Argentine international by paying a whopping 111 million euros upfront to the Italian side. But because of their financial status, which has been majorly affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Spanish giants could not pay the demanded amount and the option has since expired.

Now Inter Milan have the choice to set any value they see fit on the young striker which is likely to exceed the earlier amount. Despite this, Barca have been strangely confident about this transfer, with ESPN now revealing that the reason is perhaps the fact that they have reached on personal terms with the 22-year-old.

This might indeed be enough to force his exit this summer with Inter remaining adamant about keeping ahold of their future star. Barca have attempted to convince the Nerazzurri by providing many players in return. Players such as Nelson Semedo, Junior Firpo, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, and even Antoine Griezmann have all been linked with a move to San Siro in exchange.

All these players have been rejected by the Serie A giants but they might be forced to re-evaluate their options with Lautaro being clear about his desire to move to Camp Nou. The striker’s recent disappointing performances have also been witnessed which might be a direct result of Inter refusing to make a deal for his departure.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are planning alternatives with a clear escape route being paying the Italian side. To achieve this, they must sell a major superstar with Philippe Coutinho being named the perfect solution.

While it remains clear that no one in their right mind will pay the 160 million euro Barca paid Liverpool to acquire the Brazilian international, Barca are hopeful to secure the amount needed to land Lautaro.

Coutinho’s agent has recently revealed that the midfielder wishes to return to the Premier League with Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and potentially more, being named as the likely destinations.
