Real Madrid and Barcelona are all set to battle out for the Borussia Monchengladbach ace with the player willing to leave the club.
According to the recent reports published in the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are all set to battle it out for the 23-year-old Marcus Thuram. The Borussia Monchengladbach striker has started the 2020/21 season on a great note with three goals and five assists across all competitions.
The series of impressive performances from the player and his consistency has attracted the Spanish top-flight clubs. Los Blancos and the Blaugrana are ready to lock their horns in order to bring the player to Spain. The player received the national team call owing to his superior performance.
Despite being named in the squad for the games against Finland, Portugal and Sweden, Marcus Thuram wasn’t able to get few international minutes under his belt. However, the player has definitely added to the squad depth of the French national team.
The son of 1998 World Cup-winning Lillian Thuram, Marcus Thuram has been sensational for his team in the ongoing season. The main reason behind Real Madrid’s interest can be attributed to the player’s performance against Santiago Bernabeu-based outfit where he scored past Thibaut Courtois twice on the European stage.
Despite Real Madrid being able to salvage a point from the game, it was the 23-year-old who outshined everyone else on the pitch.
Not only this season but in the previous seasons too, the player has remained consistent. Marcus Thuram played a great role in getting the top-four finish for Die Fohlen. In 2019/20, the former Sochaux player scored 10 times whereas he was indirectly involved in eight goals in 31 Bundesliga games. In DFB Pokal Cup too, the player found his name on the scoresheet twice in as many appearances for his side
Though Barcelona have registered their interest in the player, it would be difficult for the side to integrate the left-midfielder to their team with Ansu Fati slowly emerging as a successor for Lionel Messi‘s throne.
Moreover, Ronald Koeman is interested in bringing Memphis Depay who also plays on the left flank. With the storm yet to settle at Camp Nou since the resignation fiasco of Josep Maria Bartomeu, the player should make the decision patiently.
With regard to Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane will more likely be focused on landing the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, instead of Thuram. The duo has been looked at by the Whites since a couple of months now and with their quality certainly surpassing that of the Italy-born youngster.
Should Marcus Thuram move to La Liga or hone his skills for a while at Borrusia Monchengladbach?
