Atletico Madrid will be looking to add Napoli star to strengthen midfield following Champions League upset.

After finishing third in the league by 12 points, managing to clinch their spot just because of goal difference. Atletico Madrid has been a little less lethal than they usually have been. Following the tremendous amounts of draws, this season and the disappointing exit from the Champions League by the hands of RB Leipzig, Diego Simeone’s side will be looking to improve their side for next season.

Unlike teams like Juventus or Barcelona though, Simone is mostly happy with his players and will only be willing to make small changes to build on the quality of the Spanish side. Although disappointing in many occasions, Atletico Madrid has put up some amazing performances like both the legs against Premier League champions who were one of the favorites to win the UCL.

According to Marca, one of the players the Argentine coach would be looking to add to his side is Napoli midfielder, Allan. The Brazilian seemingly has fallen out with new manager Gennaro Gattuso and has seen a reduction of his playtime for the Italian giants. The 29-year-old is a quality midfielder who is seemingly in his prime, and in turn, will be looking for a move away from San Paulo.

However, Simeone’s side isn’t the only team interested in the Brazilian, with teams like PSG and Everton also in the market for the talented midfielder. PSG is yet to show a strong interest, but Everton who is currently under Carlo Ancelloti are strong contenders for the Naples player.

Having already played under him, Ancelloti would be using his influence to sign the midfielder. But Atlético Madrid would be the team competing in the Champions League next season, while the Toffees will be struggling to secure a spot in any of the European Championships as they have finished 12th this season. So it is safe to say that El Pupas will be leading the race to sign the Brazilian.

With an approximate value of around 32 million euros according to popular site Transfermarkt, Napoli would be looking to sell the player for a sum a bit north of his market value. However, with the financial problems posed by the coronavirus pandemic, Gli Azzuri would have to make sure to not demand a price too high for the former Udinese man.
