Atletico Madrid enter the market in a bid to sign highly rated Ligue 1 ace

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing one of the most talented players from the Ligue 1 in a bid to rebuild their attack.

Atletico Madrid have evolved into a much more lethal attacking unit this season under Diego Simeone. The Red and Whites currently top the La Liga table and are on course to win their first Spanish title since their last championship in 2014. The signing of Luis Suarez and the rapid-rise of Marcos Llorente this season has turned out to be pivotal for Atleti in the league.

However, Simeone faces a complicated situation as both his best players are wanted by other clubs. Liverpool have shown interest to re-sign Suarez, meanwhile, Manchester United are willing to go all the way to sign the highly-rated versatile Spaniard, Marcos Llorente, as earlier reported.

With that being said, Todo Fichajes reports that Diego Simeone has shortlisted Florian Thauvin of Olympique Marseille. The 28-year-old Frenchman would be a perfect addition to Atleti’s arsenal next season due to his immense versatility in the final third. Thauvin, a natural right-winger, can also play as an outward left-winger and central attacking midfielder.

He currently has eight goals and seven assists so far in the Ligue 1 for Marseille, however, his contract will be running out at the end of the season. There has been no news as of yet on a potential renewal which means that Atletico Madrid could potentially sign Florian Thauvin on a free transfer in the summer.

However, the report goes on to state that Arsenal, Leicester City and Sevilla are among the few other interested clubs to sign the 28-year-old. Diego Simeone’s side would certainly face some competition in landing the Frenchman due to his talent and since his contract is running out soon.

The signing of Florian Thauvin could be the ideal one that Simeone needs to reshape his front three. An attacking trident consisting of Joao Felix, Luis Suarez and Thauvin could certainly out to be a lethal one in Spain and Europe.
