Arsenal on the verge of losing their star signing from Spain

Arsenal has made it clear to the world that their wanted man for the summer is Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid. Mikel Arteta believes that the addition of Diego Simeone’s ultimate pressing machine would be a key factor for the Gunners next season to finish in the top four.

The goal for the former Manchester City assistant coach would be to help his team finish in the top four ranking of the 2020/21 Premier League season. The north London side has a limited budget for the upcoming summer, however, they are still linked with big names such as Philippe Coutinho and Thomas Partey.

Rumours also claim that the Arsenal are willing to sign Antoine Griezmann who has been a massive disappointment for the Blaugrana this season and the English side is willing to offer several players along with cash for the former Atletico Madrid forward.

Matteo Guendouzi has been linked with a move to either Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona this summer and Areta believes that Partey’s addition would be the ideal replacement for the departing French midfielder.

However, the Premier League side also face stiff competition from Juventus and Napoli as well for the Ghanian international. Arsenal was considered as favourites earlier since the board at the Emirates Stadium were willing to offer the defensive midfielder thrice the salary he receives annually at the Metropolitano, however, AS reports that Napoli has now offered the player the same wage rate that could prove to be pivotal for the Naples based team to sign Thomas.

The Emirates Stadium no longer seems like a worthy ideal destination for the La Liga Santander midfielder as he could earn the same wage at Napoli who are a far better team than the current English side. The Serie A side could also possibly challenge Juventus next season for the Serie A meanwhile, the Gunners are hoping to finish in the top four next season.

The most important factor as to why Arsenal might lose Partey would be that Napoli can offer the player Champions League football something that the English side cannot promise given their current poor form in the Premier League.

The African superstar is 28-years-old and is in the prime of his career and it seems like he is not ready to take the risk of downgrading from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal now. With Partey out of the picture, who should the Gunners now focus on signing?
