Arsenal are preparing a bid to sign the Englishman, whose contract at Manchester United runs out in the summer of 2022.
Mikel Arteta will be aiming to revamp his squad for the 2021-22 season. Arsenal are all set to have a busy transfer window this summer, with several players tipped to leave and join the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners’ boss is not expected to be handed a huge transfer budget and as a result, he will have to make the most out of his limited resources.
As reported by Todo Fichajes, one of the top candidates on Arteta’s wish-list is Jesse Lingard, who is currently on loan at West Ham. The Manchester United attacking midfielder has been impressive ever since he joined the Hammers in the winter transfer window on loan. The 28-year old has already scored eight goals and added another four assists to his Premier League tally. Moreover, he has helped David Moyes’ side to remain in contention for a top four finish.
Manchester United will be extremely happy with Lingard’s progress at West Ham, and will be looking to sell him on a permanent deal, once his loan spell expires in the summer. The Englishman’s contract at Old Trafford expires in 2022, and the club are not expected to grant him a contract extension.
Given the current contract scenario, Arsenal are preparing a bid of 15 million pounds for Jesse Lingard. The Gunners will battle it out with the Italian side, Inter Milan in order to earn the 28-year old’s services. Inter have signed several Manchester United stars in the past two seasons, which includes the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, to name a few. Their good relations with the English club can help them get a head-start in their bid to sign Lingard.
West Ham are not in contention to sign the the midfielder on a permanent basis, as they are unwilling to match the 15 million pound asking price. Alexandre Lacazette is expected to leave Arsenal in the summer, which has left Arteta searching for options. Martin Odegaard, who is loan from Real Madrid is not expected to stay beyond the current season either.
Jesse Lingard is certainly a good option for Arsenal, given the amount of Premier League experience he brings with him. Moreover, the attacking midfielder has represented England in 27 international games so far. He has proven to be a regular goal scorer for his side, when he gets a good run of games. Do you think the acquisition of Jesse Lingard is a good option for the Gunners?
