Arsenal single out a replacement for one of their star players as Gunners feel the former academy graduate is the ideal option for the club
Arsenal has the services of one of the best strikers in the Premier League as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been consistently scoring goals for the Gunners since he arrived in 2018. The north London side splashed out 56 million pounds for the Gabonese international as the club was in dire need of a decent striker.
The former Dortmund man has brilliant goalscoring stats with the English outfit as the player has 73 goals in 121 appearances at the Emirates Stadium. Recently, the 31-year old signed an extension with the club which will reportedly keep the player till the summer of 2023.
According to recent reports, Arsenal has identified a worthy replacement for Aubameyang as the north London side has zeroed in on one of their former academy graduates. Donyell Malen of PSV is reportedly being linked with the Gunners as the club chiefs have expressed their desire to re-sign the youngster.
The 21-year-old Dutchman has been exceptional for the Eredivisie club since he arrived in 2017 as the player has shown massive improvement in his game and has been a regular starter for the Red and White outfit. The PSV forward has been no slouch in the final third as he continues to rake in goals at the Philips Stadion.
Last season, Malen was only able to make 14 appearances in the Dutch league as the youngster suffered a major knee injury in the middle of the season which kept him out of the team for the second half of their campaign. However, the former Arsenal player had impressive figures in his injury ridden season as the player scored 11 goals during the first half of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s side is willing to bring in one of their former academy products as they believe that the addition of the youngster will help the club’s cause in the longer run. The 21-year-old forward has redeemed himself as one of the brightest prospects of European football and possesses all the necessary skills to replace a striker like Aubameyang.
