Arsenal will play a pivotal role this summer for Manchester City to sign their prime target from the Serie A
Arsenal have started their Premier League campaign in great fashion after securing three points against Fulham in the season opener followed by a narrow victory against West Ham. Mikel Arteta has managed to make the most out of his 3-5-2 formation after the addition of the two Brazilian signings, Gabriel and Willian.
This summer, Arsenal plans to rejuvenate their team further by bringing in new talent into the squad and are planning to offload the deadwood in order to balance the squad and challenge the top clubs for a Champions League berth. In recent developments, the Gunners are looking to offload their Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The 32-year-old defender has been linked with a move to Napoli this summer and the north London side are more than happy to cash in on the player now as his contract expires next summer.
If the former Borussia Dortmund defender signs for the Serie A side this summer, then Napoli are willing to let Kalidou Koulibaly leave for the right price. The Italian club has set strict deadlines for the interested clubs to act quickly in order to land the 29-year-old defender.
Napoli value their defender at around 70 million pounds and are willing to discuss until the upcoming weekend as the club from Naples is keen to get their business done before the transfer window closes. Earlier this month Napoli President, De Laurentiis stated that Koulibaly would be available for the right offer this summer as he plans to cash in on the defender.
It was a disappointing campaign for the English side, Manchester City as they suffered season-defining losses by the hands of Olympique Lyon in the Champions League and Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-finals. The lack of defensive motivation was visible all throughout the season, shortcomings were plenty and answers were none. The failure to replace Vincent Kompany has proven to be deterimental and Pep Guardiola now believes that Koulibaly could fill in the void of the former Belgian captain.
After securing Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, the Spanish Manager is contemplating a move for 29-year-old Senegalese defender, Kalidou Koulibaly and it seems like the Napoli defender could be a perfect fit for the English side and provide the much needed defensive character to the 2018/19 Premier League champions, making their squad formidable once again.
