VARANE MAKES ANOTHER SILLY MISTAKE

Raphael Varane scored his second own goal of the season at the Mestalla. While it was unfortunate, the Frenchman made a very silly mistake and it was not the first time he has committed something like this. As good a defender as he is, the 27-year-old is prone to making very childish errors at times.

Varane would be kicking himself but he may be in need of some time off with difficult fixtures looming on the horizon, to regain his confidence. The away fixture at Villarreal may provide Zidane with a good opportunity to do so given that Eder Militao would have recovered from the coronavirus by then.

ISCO PROVES ZIDANE’S OMISSIONS RIGHT

Zinedine Zidane helped Isco into becoming one of the best attacking midfielders in the world some years ago, but since the French manager’s second tenure, the Spaniard’s quality has dropped. Despite Santiago Solari freezing him out, Zidane kept faith in Isco for a second season running but unfortunately, to no avail.

The former Malaga midfielder got an unexpected start versus Valencia and was virtually invisible for as long as he was on the pitch. Isco created no significant chances, nor did he track back to help in the defensive work. His future may lie away from Real Madrid and this could very well be his last season as a Madridista.
