Five possible replacements for Lionel Messi who is set to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2021 when his contract expires
FC Barcelona has a problem on their hands. Following what came to be one of the worst seasons for the club, politically and performance-wise their star player Lionel Messi might be set to leave the club when his contract ends in 2021. The Argentinian is very upset at the club after news surfaced that the club president Josep Maria Bartomeu was hiring a social media company to smear the reputation of Barca legends and presidential candidates.
Coupled with terrible performances by the players in the Champions League for the past four years and losing out on the Copa Del Ray and La Liga titles, the prospect of Messi retiring at the club seems highly unlikely.
After his departure, Barcelona would then have the job of replacing a legend of not only the club but one of the greatest footballers to walk the pitch, a task which is not easy. However, this feat is not impossible as there are plenty of players in Europe that can possibly cover-up most of the hole that the iconic number 10 will leave at the club.

When asked to think of a prolific winger, one of the first names that come into mind is Senegal international Sadio Mane. The Liverpool star has caught headlines in the past few years and rightfully so, showing excellent skill and goalscoring ability.
He was a major part of the Champions League campaign of the Reds which resulted in them lifting the trophy in 2019 and has been very consistent for the time he’s played for them, leading them to the Premier League title this year. With the pace, skills, defensive work rate, and the inevitable goals he brings to a team, he would be a great addition to the Cules. Liverpool would also be open to selling their star forward for a fee of around 107 million euros, a price that is in no means very expensive for a player of his caliber.
