4 talking points from the Real Madrid victory over Levante

Real Madrid defeated Levante 2-0 in their fourth La Liga fixture of the 2020/21 season at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Real Madrid claimed their third straight La Liga win of the season against Levante by a 2-0 score, thanks to goals in another half by Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema. Zinedine Zidane’s men convinced with a deserved win, but the match would’ve been a very high-scoring affair if both sides had taken their chances in both halves.

Vinicius scored in consecutive games for Los Blancos for the very first time in his career with a wonderful finish past Aitor Fernandez. The Brazilian’s goal put Zidane’s charges on the road to victory against a side that they dropped three points against away from home last time out, but the match was far from over.

Levante had a fair share of chances, as did Madrid to finish things off, but neither side was on top of its finishing game. Sergio Ramos scored a header in the second half, but that was ultimately ruled out for offside after the referee consulted VAR for a few minutes. Although by a very small margin, Ramos was past the last man and therefore, it was a right call.

The hosts had committed all men forward in search of an equalizer late into stoppage time, leaving Karim Benzema free. The Frenchman ran the length of the half and scored a brilliant goal to settle things with the last kick of the game. Benzema’s 250th goal for the Whites was his first of the new league campaign.

Here’s a look at the four talking points from the match.
