Real Madrid claimed their fifth successive win on the trot, thanks to a 3-1 success against Eibar at the Municipal de Ipurua. Karim Benzema scored his 11th goal of the season in all competitions to get the game up and running in the sixth minute itself and teed up Luka Modric after some fine footwork just a few minutes later.
Kike Garcia scored a wonderful long-range goal to bring the hosts back into the game. In all fairness, the Basque side had their chances but failed to take them, which included a match-winning block from Sergio Ramos in stoppage time. Lucas Vazquez sealed the match with his first goal of the season and the last kick of the day, thanks to another Benzema assist.
Let us have a look at the three talking points from this fixture.
REAL MADRID STRUGGLED TO DEAL WITH THE HIGH PRESS
Real Madrid started the first 20 minutes very well and scored twice in the opening period. The way they got going and with the chances they created, Los Blancos would have been three or four goals to the good in next to no time. However, in the latter half of the first period, Eibar did score and looked menacing with their press.
The Basque side had the better chances before the refereeās whistle for half-time, thanks to their high pressing. Real Madrid failed to deal with as much pressure and look more confused. The chemistry looked lost since half the players were countering the press by staying back, whereas the other lot was narrowing space by pressing too.
