Real Madrid were far from their best but still managed to win 1-0 against Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in La Liga.
Real Madrid returned to winning ways after three winless matches in La Liga. Zinedine Zidane overlooked his side claiming a nail-biting 1-0 at one of the most difficult stadiums to visit in Spain, Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. An own goal forced by Vinicius Junior in the second half was enough to keep the defending champions in title contention.
Ahead of a decisive week in which they face Borussia Monchengladbach and Atletico Madrid, winning was key and albeit the performance was not the best, the three points mattered most. With that said, here is a look at the three crucial talking points from the Whites’ league win from Saturday evening.
REAL MADRID ONCE AGAIN BEAT AN ATTACKING SIDE
Real Madrid have come up against Barcelona once and Inter Milan twice this season and have prevailed in each of the three matches. It was no different against Europa League winners Sevilla. The Merengues always seem to perform against the better sides in the world but it’s not coincidental by any means.
Zidane, unfortunately, struggles to tactically outplay sides who refrain from keeping as much of the ball and defend very deep into their own half. However, he always has his plans in place while taking on clubs who play a high line defensively and come out to attack. This is why he has three Champions League and not as many domestic trophies in the locker.
