VAZQUEZ COST HIS SIDE THE GAME WITH A TERRIBLE DISPLAY
Lucas Vazquez made the telling mistakes for both goals. The first one was a pass directly into the path of Dani Garcia, who teed up Raul Garcia for the goal, whereas the second was a pathetic foul on Iker Muniain in the penalty box. Not to mention, the 29-year-old had a terrible overall game and did no good even in the final third.
Most of Vazquez’s crosses were easily claimed by the goalkeeper or cleared away by the defenders, whereas his next best option came in the shape of playing back passes. He has performed well as the right-back on several occasions, but this was one of his worst performances. This shows the gulf in quality between him and Dani Carvajal.
ZIDANE SEEMS TO HAVE LOST THE PLOT AT REAL MADRID
Zinedine Zidane was close to being sacked earlier this season and the latest result is once again bound to cast doubts over his future. The Frenchman in truth does not deserve more time at the helm, seeing the magnitude of costs his decisions have come at.
Firstly, he is simply not giving enough chances to the younger players who are outperforming veterans at times. Secondly, he seems running out of options when it comes to making substitutions, which are usually made in the final minutes of the match. The player coming on barely has any time to settle into the game. Lastly, his tactics have become extremely predictable.
As good a job as he may have done in his first tenure, Zidane is simply not the manager he was and a change in personnel may be what Madrid need.
