Manchester United suffered a huge setback in their bid to keep the pressure on Manchester City, as they drop points at Elland Road.
Manchester United failed to extend their five-match winning streak, as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road, by their old-time rivals, Leeds United. This means that Manchester City have now opened up a 10-point lead over their rivals, Manchester United with just five games left to be played.
Marcus Rashford got closest to opening the scoring in the first half, as his free-kick forced a good save from Leeds goalkeeper, Illan Meslier. Bruno Fernandes missed an opportunity from close range in the second half, whereas, Mason Greenwood also missed a spectacular chance in the last 45 minutes of the game. OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER MAKES LATE SUBSTITUTIONS WHICH COST THE RED DEVILS
Manchester United were nowhere close to their best against Leeds United on Sunday. The visitors failed to create opportunities in front of goal, and did not threaten a vulnerable, Leeds United defence in the first half. Spaces did open in the second half, but the Red Devils failed to capitalize on their few chances.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a few late changes against Marcelo Bielsa’s side, which cost the visitors. Given that the score read 0-0 in the second half, Solskjaer could have used the firepower on his bench a bit earlier.
Paul Pogba was introduced in the game in the 76th minute, Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek were introduced in the last ten minutes of the game. Players like Pogba and Cavani, certainly deserve some time on the field, in order to make a valuable impact against the opposition.
