3 talking points as Manchester United gain revenge over Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United gained revenge over Tottenham Hotspur after defeating the Lilywhites 1-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Manchester United redeemed themselves over Tottenham Hotspur after securing a crucial away victory at north London. The Red Devils pulled off a successful comeback after Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood found the back of the net to register a 1-3 victory over Tottenham.

Meanwhile, for Jose Mourinho, it has been a tough week. Spurs dropped points against Newcastle United in a 2-2 draw and then further extended their miseries after losing to Manchester United on home soil. They now find themselves seventh on the league table with 49 points and the likelihood of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season seems bleak.

On the flip side, the Red Devils continue to remain second on the league table but are still far off from the leaders- Manchester City. An 11 point difference is what separates the Manchester sides on the Premier League table, however, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be proud of his team’s performance against Tottenham.

MASON GREENWOOD- THE GAME CHANGER FOR MANCHESTER UNITED

Mason Greenwood was brought on for Marcus Rashford in the second half after Fred had drawn the score level by a wonderful team effort. The 19-year-old forward settled into the game quickly and made an instant impact after setting up Edinson Cavani with a wonderful cross that was tucked away by the former Paris Saint-Germain striker to make 1-2.

The assist helped boast Greenwood’s morale as he went on to extend the league after Paul Poba played him through with a neat pass during the last few minutes of the game. The 20-year-old dribbled past Sergio Reguilon before firing his shot in the near post beyond the reach of Hugo Lloris. It was a gargantuan performance from Mason Greenwood who seems to have finally found his form after a rough start to the 2020/21 season.
