MENDY SHOWS HIS QUALITY WITH A RARE GOAL

Benjamin Mendy was signed by Manchester City in 2017 after an impressive season with Monaco. However, the left-back has never seen his City career take off after several injuries and poor form. The Frenchman has played just 15 matches so far this season, and is desperately trying to break into the starting lineup.

Benjamin Mendy was certainly a standout player for Manchester City on Saturday, opening the scoring with a brilliant finish from his weak-foot. His performance against the Foxes showed how important he can be for this City team, given his ability to put in some delicious crosses and come with an occasional goal or two. Defensively, Mendy did a fine job and played a crucial part in helping his side keep another clean sheet.

CITY ACHIEVE HIGH SPIRITS AHEAD OF DORTMUND CLASH

Out of several trophies, Pep Guardiola has won at Manchester City, the Champions League title has been the one eluding him. Moreover, under his guidance, the club haseven failed to make it past the quarterfinal in the past four seasons. The Sky Blues’ win on Saturday will do their confidence a whole world of good before they host Borussia Dortmund in a crunch European Cup clash.

Borussia Dortmund come on the back of a defeat in Bundesliga, whereas, City continue their rampant form in the Premier League. The likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling and John Stones were all on the bench on Saturday, which means they will be fit and fresh to start during the mid-week. In all fairness, Pep’s success at the club this season will be measured by how far he can manage to take Manchester City in the Champions League.
