Barcelona defeat 10-man Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica courtesy of an Antoine Griezmann brace to secure three points.
Barcelona are within reach of winning the La Liga title this season after defeating Villarreal 1-2 at the Estadio de la Ceramica. The Catalans conceded an early goal by Samuel Chukwueze in the first half but Antoine Griezmann equalised the game within two minutes.
The French international scored another goal to complete his brace in the 35th minute to make 1-2 for the visitors before the end of the first half. Manu Trigueros’s red card in the second half made it an uphill battle for Villarreal to find the equaliser due to the numerical disadvantage.
A DOMESTIC DOUBLE IS WITHIN SIGHT FOR BARCELONA
Barcelona are only two points below the league leaders, Atletico Madrid. If the Catalans beat Granada in their next fixture then they will go one point clear of Atletico. On the 8th of May, Barcelona host Diego Simeone‘s side at the Camp Nou in what could be a potential title-deciding fixture.
The Copa del Rey has already been secured and Ronald Koeman will certainly be keen on winning the La Liga to complete a domestic double in his very first season in charge of the club. Barcelona are the current favourites to win the league after Real Madrid dropped points in their last two games and Atletico Madrid were defeated by Athletic Bilbao last night.
