DEST BLOOMS IN AN ADVANCED ROLE ON THE RIGHT FLANK

Sergino Dest bagged a brace in what turned out to be his first couple of goals in the Spanish top-flight. The American international has seen his attacking output increase since being shifted to a slightly more attacking role of a right wing-back while Barca remain in possession. His inflow of goals were only a matter of time, in truth.

While his defensive attributes can be brushed further, there is no doubt that Dest is already among the world’s best attacking fullbacks. His crossing is pinpoint whereas his shooting accuracy has also started coming to light, especially with his goals. Ronald Koeman deserves credit for bringing the best out of several Barcelona players, including the 20-year-old.

BARCELONA TRIO WILL WALK A FINE LINE AHEAD OF EL CLASICO

Barcelona are in a superb run of form heading into El Clasico, but they have another hurdle at the Camp Nou in the shape of Real Valladolid before facing their bitter rivals away from home. There is a massive likelihood that there may be as many as three suspensions for that one as Frenkie de Jong, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets are all under a tightrope.

The trio is one yellow card away from being handed a one-match ban and Koeman would hope that Valladolid is not an outing in which either of them is booked. While Messi’s importance needs no explanation, Busquets and de Jong have provided the team a much-needed defensive solidity and that will be hard to achieve in their absence.
