Barcelona has booked their place in the final of the 2021 Spanish Super Cup after defeating Real Sociedad on penalties 3-2.
Barcelona has made it into the final of the Spanish Super Cup for the first time since the inception of the new format that was brought about last-year. The Catalans fought until the last whistle to book their place in the final as the fixture against Real Sociedad went into penalties.
The win against Sociedad has now stretched Barca’s winning run to nine games unbeaten although their performance was not up to the mark in the semi-final. Ronald Koeman’s side has finally managed to turn their season around after a poor start to the campaign. The Dutchman could win his first silverware with Barca shortly depending on the opponent they face in the final as Real Madrid face Athletic Bilbao tonight.

MARC-ANDRE TER STEGEN TURNS OUT TO BE A HERO ONCE AGAIN FOR BARCELONA
Had it not been for the heroics of Marc-Andre ter Stegen then Barcelona would have been knocked out from the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup. The German keeper formed an impenetrable wall between the sticks as he made six saves during the game including two match-saving saves in injury time against Adnan Januzaj and Joseba Zaldua.
Ter Stegen also stood tall in the penalty shootout by making two saves that turned out to be decisive in Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Real Sociedad in the semi-final. Overall, it was one of the best individual performances by the German goalkeeper.
