Three talking points from the Getafe vs Barcelona fixture as the Catalans were handed their first defeat of the 2020/21 season
Ronald Koeman‘s unbeaten run in La Liga has now come to an end after Barcelona succumbed to a 1-0 loss against Getafe. The Catalans now have seven points from their last four fixtures and are currently placed ninth on the table. The game against Getafe was a golden opportunity for Barca to capitalize on as their rivals Real Madrid dropped points against the newly-promoted side, Cadiz.
Going into the game, the Catalans certainly had the upper hand despite several players coming back from international duty. Barca has not lost six of their last meetings against Getafe and has also scored eight goals in their last three outings, however, the high press by Jose Bordalas’s side was sufficient to keep the Catalans quiet throughout the game.

OUSMANE DEMBELE’S DAY ARE NUMBERED
Ousmane Dembele was tipped to sign for Manchester United this summer on loan, however, the French forward changed his decision on deadline day despite being unwanted at the Camp Nou. Given his poor performance against Getafe, it is most likely that the Catalans will attempt to offload the player in January to sign Memphis Depay from Olympique Lyon.
The 23-year-old winger was handed his first start of the season under Ronald Koeman, however, the former Borussia Dortmund man failed to make most of it. The Dutch manager decided that he could not tolerate Dembele’s poor performance any further and rightfully substituted the winger early in the second half.
In terms of statistics, Dembele was the most dispossessed player on the pitch as he lost the ball 16 times in 62 minutes and often lacked control on the ball while dribbling as well. To make matters worse, the 23-year-old had zero shots on target and was seemed dazed, to be honest during the game.
