With Napoli arriving at Camp Nou for the second-leg clash of the round-of-16 of the Champions League, Barcelona needs these 3 players to excel.
Barcelona have had a tough season so far, being on the verge of experiencing a rare trophyless season with only Champions League trophy being available. The Catalans lost the Supercopa de España to Atletico Madrid in the semi-final stage losing 2-3 in Saudi Arabia back in January.
They also lost to Athletic Bilbao in the following month in the quarter-final stage of the Copa del Rey. While they led the La Liga table, for the most part, this season their performances after the restart saw them lost their previously held lead to rivals Real Madrid to eventually lose the Spanish crown as well.
The Champions League title is the only recognition coach Quique Setien can now manage this year but they face a tough competition with their first target being defeating Napoli in their second-leg match. While coach Gennaro Gattuso has expressed that the Spanish giants are far better despite struggling, Setien has only 14 players available for the match, where two of them are goalkeepers and one, Arthur Melo, is refusing to return from Brazil.
In short, the Spanish manager has a little over 11 players available for the clash, substantially limiting his tactical options. This adds additional pressure on the available players with three players listed below being vital for the club’s success. Marc Andre ter Stegen, Rique Puig, and Ansu Fati have not been listed below despite having equal importance because their recent performances prove that they are capable of consistently performing well for the team whereas the footballers mentioned will need to improve their game to ensure that the Catalan giants do not go trophyless this season.
